In overweight dogs, the ribs and other bones may be difficult to feel beneath fat deposits. Extra fat may be noticeable around the back, neck and hindquarters, with little or no visible waistline and a lower or sagging abdomen.
Starting your puppy on a raw diet can be straightforward, even if they are currently eating processed food.
Healthy puppies can generally begin their new raw diet from their next meal. However, if your puppy has a sensitive stomach, existing health concerns or difficulty adjusting to dietary changes, consider transitioning gradually over 3–5 days.
2–4 months: Feed 8–10% of body weight daily
4–6 months: Feed 6–8% of body weight daily
6–8 months: Feed 4–6% of body weight daily
8–12 months: Feed 3–4% of body weight daily
These percentages are recommended guidelines only. Feeding requirements vary depending on breed, age, activity level, metabolism and individual body condition. Monitor your dog regularly and adjust their portions where necessary.
